The challenge
Law firm websites in Hong Kong tend to look corporate and generic, or dated. The goal was to show a small local firm can look as sharp as a startup and still feel formal, trustworthy and local.
The approach
The name
立言 means to establish your word. It comes from the classical idea of three things that outlast a life: virtue, deeds and words.
Language as identity
Fully in formal Cantonese with Hong Kong legal terms. The hero line 「據理力爭,寸步不讓。」 means argue on principle, yield not an inch.
Local details
A red name seal signs the founder's statement, cheque numerals 壹 貳 參 肆 number the practice areas, and a drawn map of Central replaces an embedded one.
Highlights
An identity rooted in Hong Kong language and culture
Useful content, like legal time limits, instead of decoration
Startup-sharp design for a traditional profession
